2250138 - SLES 11 SP1 not supported for SAP HANA revision 110 and higher

Symptom
SAP HANA revision 110 and higher require SUSE SLES 11 SP2 as the minimal patch level

Other Terms
HANA, SLES, SUSE, GCC

Reason and Prerequisites
Starting with revision 110, the SAP HANA database server software is built using a new compiler version than originally delivered with RHEL 6 and SLES 11. Therefore an additional runtime environment for GCC 4.8 needs to be installed before updating the SAP HANA database to SPS 11. Because these GCC4.8 runtime packages are available starting with SLES 11 SP2, SAP HANA revision 110 and higher require this as the minimal patch level.
Additionally, as of August 31st 2015, SUSE has ended Long Term Service Pack Support for SLES 11 SP1.
Customers who plan to upgrade to HANA SPS 11 need to first upgrade to SUSE SLES 11 SP2 or higher.
We recommend for customers to plan OS datacenter maintenance accordingly.

Solution
If you are running SAP HANA on a SUSE SLES operating system, and want to upgrade your SAP HANA system to revision 110 or higher, first upgrade your SUSE operating system to SLES 11 SP2 or higher.
Check that the GCC4.8 runtime packages are installed. If not, review SAP Note 2228351 for more information about upgrading the GCC runtime packages.
