Symptom
Database connection in Desktop Intelligence document remains while oracle client changes connection server to another.
Environment
- BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Server Pack 3
- Oracle 10.2
- Desktop Intelligence document (DeskI)
Reproducing the Issue
- Prepare two Oracle servers on two environments separately.
- Create Oracle users with same user name and rights on two separate oracle server.
- Create tables with same table name on both Oracle database servers.
- Insert different data into tables on two Oracle database server respectively.
- On BusinessObjects Enterprise (BOE) system, create a connection with default settings via oracle client connected to database server 1. ("Connection Pool Mode" should be "Keep the connection active for" by default.)
- Create a universe with the connection created on step 5.
- Create new Desktop Intelligence document (via InfoView or client tool) based on the universe created on step 6.
- Change database server IP address from server 1 to server 2 in "tnsnames.ora" file on BOE server.
- Refresh DeskI report and check the data doesn't get updated at all.
Cause
Database connection used in Universe doesn't get updated after changing Oracle client to connect to another Oracle server.
Resolution
This issue can be resolved under steps below:
- Close DeskI document and client tool.
- Reopen the document.
- Refresh the document and check data to be updated.
