Reason and Prerequisites

Port the feature for "Using external host name" into SPS04

Problem statement
According to the HANA distributed system architecture we might have two network interfaces for the HANA Distributed System.

• One for the external inbound traffic e.g. the traffic that comes from the HANA clients or Studio

• Second network interface used for internal server nodes communication

    Respectively in this set-up we have two host names for the HANA system - internal and external. Currently however the HANA UI supports one host name.

Solution

Solution

    Problem will be solved if we can provide input to the HANA UI for these two host names

• Internal host name that will be used later for internal cluster communication

    Handing: The internal name have to be passed to the hdb inst (as it is done currently for HDB host param). This internal name will be used also for the generation of the host agent SSL certificates used for the SUM4HANA-HDB. In the configuration file this host name can be provided via the current hdb-host param.

• External host name that will be used by HANA UI for SSL certificates generation only

    Handling: This external name will be optional in the HANA UI input file (e.g. we can name it external-host name). In case it is provided it will be used for SUM4HANA SSL certificates generation (the certificate used between the studio and SUM4HANA Server). If it is not provided the the hdb-host param from above will be used for this generation i.e. the installer will behave as it is now.

Consider the renaming of the second host name into HANA On-site config as well.

Customer Input:

Here is a example landscape scenario provided from IBM HW vendors:
They have 3 node system with a Public Client Network (1GB) named ibmhanar10/11/12 and an SAP HANA Internal Network (10GB) named hananode01/02/03 set up in the /etc/hosts of each system.



How to apply the patch:
1. Download archive from SMP
2. Extract it and replace it in HANA DVD you are using
- replace folder (Data Unit)
.../HANA_DVD/DATA_UNITS/HANA_IM_LINUX__X86_64/
