Symptom
As an SAP customer, owning a SAP HANA Platform license, you have successfully downloaded the Application Function Library SDK for SAP HANA (SAP HANA AFL SDK, see SAP Note 2018941) and want to prepare and get started with the development of a custom AFL for your in-house use.
While SAP Development Partners, require a GUID for the production deployment of the Partner AFLs in customer envrionments (see SAP Note 2121474), customers can prepare and deploy custom AFLs with a given and specific package name and AFL area name for their in-house use.
Note, for any intial development effort building a test AFL, this process is NOT required. Instead, test AFLs can be build as part of the INTRO example (packagename INTRO, area name INTRO_AFL), like the example AFL libaflintro referenced in the documentation “Guidelines for using the AFL SDK for SAP HANA” and the AFL SDK download.

Reason and Prerequisites

While for demo AFLs and your first development prototypes the following names are given in the AFLSDK demo example and can be used:
Library Name: libaflintro
Package Name: INTRO
Area Name: INTRO_AFL
For your in-house production deployment the following names shall be used:
AFL Library Name: libaflcust
Package Name: CUST
Area Name: CUST_AREA
