Symptom
An installation or maintenance of HANA Content Products should be
realized via the stack.xml generated in Solution Manager with the
Maintenance Optimizer.
Other Terms
HALM, HLM, MOpz, Stack.xml, HANA Content, hdbalm, HANA Live
Reason and Prerequisites
Technical HANA System is connected to a SLD and the Product System is maintained in LMDB.
Solution
Please check if an product archive e.g. DVD.zip is available on the service market place that can be used instead.
In case of SAP HANA Live the dependencies between the different product instances are described in the Administrator's guide. This guide can be found via: http://help.sap.com/hba -> "Administrator’s Guide" -> "Installation and Maintenance Process". Chapter "Installation Information for Virtual Data Models" and "Installation Information for Applications" list the dependencies.
1) Start a new maintenance transaction in Maintenance Optimizer
2) Include new HANA Content Product Version in the target constellation
3) Calculate a stack.xml and fill download basket
4) Download stack.xml and files to a download directory
5) Use the hdblcm to update HANA DB and AFLs with the files in the download directory
6) Start hdbalm and install and update HANA Content Software Components (DUs) ) from the files mentioned above.
The HANA Content DU archives can be identified by looking up the type in the stack.xml. They have the tags <software-component>-<runtime-type> with value "HDB"
Syntax of hdbalm: hdbalm install <du1.zip> <du2.zip> ...
If you list all the relevant zip files in on call of the hdbalm then the activation of the imports will be done only once at the end of the execution of the command. This ensures that the activation will run through smoothly.
7) use the hdbalm register command to register the product information: hdbalm register <stack.xml>.
However, there is the following restriction: Stack.xml files that describe more than one support package stack are not supported. In such a case the new HANA Content product versions the product version needs the to be assigned manually in LMDB.
