1862326 - How to reduce the loading time of a HANA based Information Space

Symptom

When Exploring an Information Space based on HANA, the initial loading time may take a long time, even a minute at times. This is because the Facet panel query takes time to aggregate results for each facet.

Reproducing the Issue

Explore any HANA based Information Space with large number of facets and records.

Cause

In a normal scenario two sequential queries are dispatched to HANA, one for the Facet panel and one for the Visualization panel (chart and table). The Visualization panel is not loaded until the Facet panel is done.
Due to large amount of row measure aggregation in HANA it may take a few seconds to return Facet panel query results. The user experience will be somewhat degraded.

Resolution

As of Explorer SP05 we have added a new feature during Indexing called "Hide the facet panel when opening this Information Space".
This will eliminate the Facet Panel query when initially loading the Information Space. The Facet panel can be loaded later by clicking the "Split" button on the toolbar.
