Reason and Prerequisites
Prerequisites:
Due to the specific workload of your BW on HANA you face regular shortages of main memory.
- BW on HANA production system
- Nodes of each:
512GB on 4 Socket Westmere EX CPUs,
1 TB RAM on 8 Socket Westmere EX CPUs,
1 TB RAM on 4 Socket IvyBridge EX CPUs or
2 TB RAM on 8 Socket IvyBridge EX CPUs
Eligable IBM Power Server partitions (see SAP Note 2133369) - Current landscape fits to the sizing
Due to the specific workload of your BW on HANA you face regular shortages of main memory.
Solution
Open a CSS ticket on component HAN-DB and ask for an exception to add additional memory to the landscape.
SAP HANA BW development and SAP HANA DB development will verify whether the prerequisites are met. If applicable a statement will be made in the CSS ticket, which allows to increase the main memory of each node accordingly.
A detailed description of required informations, prerequisits and procedure for getting approval to increase memory, can be found attatched to this note.
Note: This exception must not result in a subsequent undersizing of the landscape
