1686507 - Data Services job hangs when bulkloading to a SAP HANA target table

Symptom

• Data Services jobs hang during the load to a HANA target table with bulk loading enabled
• The HANA target table is locked by Data Services on the following statement: "ALTER TABLE “TABLE_NAME” DISABLE DELTA LOG;"
• The al_engine for the data flow is not consuming much CPU
• The HANA target table is used in a View

Environment

• Data Services XI 4.0 SP2
• SAP HANA 1.0 SP3 Patch 23 or lower

Reproducing the Issue

1. Create a view on a SAP HANA table
2. Run a job that loads to the table with bulk loading enabled

Cause

There is an HANA database issue which causes the "ALTER TABLE “TABLE_NAME” DISABLE DELTA LOG" statement called by the Data Services Bulk loader to hang.

Resolution

Upgrade your SAP HANA Database and Client to HANA 1.0 SP3 Patch 24 or later.
Workaround: Disable the view from Data Services from a script or pre-load sql prior to loading the SAP HANA table when bulk loading.
