Symptom

This SAP Note is the official release note for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture, SPS 09 and SPS 10.
You are using SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 09 or SPS 10, otherwise this SAP Note 2133369 does not apply.
SAP HANA Platform SPS 11 is available on IBM Power Systems as well. It provides additional features, functionality and an extended scope. See SAP Note 2227464 for details on SPS 11 and above.

Reason and Prerequisites

The SAP HANA platform is a widely used database, application and development platform for many use cases and business scenarios. With SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SAP extended the support of already supported hardware platforms to also include the IBM Power Systems family. As of SAP HANA Platform SPS 11, SAP no longer distinguishes both versions, see SAP Note 2227464 for details on SAP HANA Platform SPS 11.

Solution

Supported Use Cases and Scope
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture supports a subset of the full feature scope of SAP HANA. This SAP note describes the complete SAP supported functional scope and all supported use cases of SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture.
The follwoing SAP HANA use cases are supported with SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture:

• For SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 09 and SPS 10 the following releases of SAP Business Warehouse, powered by SAP HANA and corresponding tools are supported:
• SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.3, powered by SAP HANA
• SAP Business Warehouse 7.4, powered by SAP HANA
• SAP Business Warehouse 7.5
• BI Java 7.40 for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture
• The following SAP tools released for SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.3, SAP
  Business Warehouse 7.4, powered by SAP HANA, and BI Java 7.40:
  − Nearline Storage in connection with SAP Business Warehouse and BI Java
  − Business Intelligence in connection with SAP Business Warehouse and BI Java
• SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 10 is also supported for SAP Business
  Planning and Consolidation 10.1, version for SAP NetWeaver.
• SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 10 is supported for some products from the
  SAP Business Suite, powered by SAP HANA. The following products are supported:
• SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7
• SAP SRM 7.0 EHP3
• SAP CRM 7.0 EHP3
• SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 09 and SPS 10 are supported for Trigger-
  Based Replication (SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server 2.0). The following releases are
  supported:
• DMIS 2011 SP07
• DMIS 2011 SP08
• DMIS 2011 SP09

Technical Deployment
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture is supported for the following technical deployment scenarios:

• Single-host system: Single-host systems are supported.
• Single-container system: The SAP HANA database in single-container mode with one system database and no tenant database is supported.

High Availability
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture supports the SAP HANA high availability features:

• SAP HANA host auto-failover: One active master host and one standby host are supported in a failover scenario.
• SAP HANA system replication in two and three tier configurations
• SAP HANA service auto-restart

This section does not cover third party cluster solutions. Clarify their support of SAP HANA version for IBM Power Systems architecture with the vendor.
Operating System
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture requires SLES 11 SP4 for IBM Power. Please see SAP Note 2055470 for details on the required patches and the operating system configuration.
Hardware
Please see SAP Note 2188482 for the supported hardware configurations.
Sizing
Sizing is a two-fold process: The sizing demands for a SAP HANA database are determined by SAP together with the customer in accordance with the sizing guidelines for SAP Business Warehouse, powered by SAP HANA. These sizing demands are passed on to IBM by the customer. IBM provides a process to support the mapping of the SAP sizing to a hardware and/or partition configuration that meets the customer’s sizing demands. For details, see SAP Note 2055470 or the IBM Planning Guide linked in the "Documentation" section.
Hardware Check Before Installation
A prerequisite for deploying SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture is to successfully pass the hardware check for Tailored Data Center Integration with the SAP HANA HW Configuration Check Tool (HWCCT). Perform the file system and landscape test before go-live; the other tests are not required due to the scope of SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture. Keep a record of the results to proof-point the setup.
Installation
The customer is responsible for the installation of SAP HANA on the provided hardware in accordance with the supported scope. Only the software for the supported scope can be installed.

SAP HANA License
Existing licenses for SAP HANA can be reused for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture but are only valid for the scope described in this SAP Note.

SAP HANA Releases

SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 09 is supported with the SAP HANA database Revision 94 and higher.
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture SPS 10 is supported with the SAP HANA database Revision 102.02 and higher.
SAP HANA Platform SPS 11 is the successor of SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture and available on IBM Power Systems as well. SAP HANA Platform SPS 11 is supported with the SAP HANA database Revision 110 and higher.
SAP recommends upgrading to the respective datacenter service point revision as soon as it becomes available.

Features not in Scope
Certain features are not supported for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture. These include the following:
Technical Deployment
SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture is not supported for the following technical deployment scenarios:

• Distributed System (Multiple-Host System): A distributed system in a scale-out scenario with multiple workers is not supported.
• Multitenant Database Containers: A SAP HANA database in multi-container mode with one system database and any number of tenant databases is not supported.

Use Cases
Certain use cases are not supported, including:

• SAP HANA as Primary Persistence for SAP NetWeaver-Based Applications, except those listed above in the "Supported Use Cases and Scope" section
• SAP HANA as Data Mart
• SAP HANA-Based Accelerators
• SAP HANA Data Provisioning
• SAP HANA Direct Extractor Connection (DXC)
• ETL-Based Replication (SAP Data Services)
• Log-Based Replication (SAP Replication Server)
• SAP HANA Enterprise Information Management
• SAP HANA as Application and Development Platform

Options
The following SAP HANA options and additional components are not supported:

• SAP HANA Accelerator for SAP ASE
• SAP HANA Advanced Data Processing
• SAP HANA Dynamic Tiering
• SAP HANA Enterprise Information Management
• SAP HANA Predictive
• SAP HANA Real-time Replication
• SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming
• SAP HANA Spatial
• SAP HANA Smart Data Access

SAP HANA Network
All connections and ports that describe a setup of the technical deployment options multiple-host systems, multitenant database containers and SAP HANA options are currently not relevant for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture.
SAP HANA Native Development
The development of SAP HANA native applications is not supported.
XS Applications
No XS applications running on SAP HANA are supported, except the SAP HANA monitoring and administration tools.
Native SAP HANA Access or Data Mart Scenarios
No native SAP HANA access or Data Mart scenarios are supported.
SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Manager
The XS application SAP HANA application lifecycle manager is not supported.
Download Software and Update Using the SAP HANA Studio
Download software and update using the SAP HANA Studio is not supported.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.5
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.5 is not supported
SAP liveCache Applications (SAP LCA or LCAPPS-Plugin)
