Other Terms
Failed update of SAP HANA database, plugin dependency check
Reason and Prerequisites
Your SAP HANA database update terminated with an error message
stating that the SAP HANA database was not compatible with the installed
SAP HANA plug-ins. This may be because the SAP HANA plug-ins installed
on your system were ignored during the update.
Solution
If you use SAP SCM/APO and the LCAPPS plug-in for SAP HANA-integrated
liveCache, please read SAP Note 2223318 first. Otherwise, we recommend
repeating the update and taking into account the SAP HANA plug-ins that
are relevant to you when selecting the components to be updated.
In special cases, you can force the SAP HANA database update by circumventing the plug-in dependency check. The SAP HANA plug-ins installed on your system are then deactivated.
IMPORTANT: Deactivating the SAP HANA plug-ins on the SAP HANA database disrupts the operation of SAP applications using the SAP HANA plug-ins. SAP applications that use the application function libraries or the SAP HANA-integrated liveCache are affected.
To force the database update, call the update tool (hdblcm) at command line level with the following option as root:
Then follow the installation instructions.
Postprocessing: You can then either reactivate or uninstall the SAP HANA plug-ins.

Proceed as described in the SAP HANA server installation and update guide. This document is available on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/hana_appliance under Installation and Update -> SAP HANA Server Installation and Update Guide.
- Alternatively, you can also uninstall the SAP HANA plug-ins, provided they are no longer in use. Uninstallation of the SAP HANA plug-ins is also explained in the SAP HANA Server Installation and Update Guide.
