1. What is SAP HANA Live Browser ?

SAP HANA Live Browser is an easy to use HANA application to view and explore SAP HANA Live analytical content in your HANA system.  No need to use HANA studio because this application presents a very  easy to use interface to explore the Virtual Data Models in the HANA  system. It will show SAP delivered content as well as Customer created  content for easy navigation and exploration.

2. Who should use SAP HANA Live Explorer ?

This application is meant for Business Users  and Technical Experts both to explore and analyse SAP HANA Live content. Technical experts would be able to see a very advanced full feature list interface and business users will see a more concise interface features which  would help them to see the relevant information.

3. Which are some of the key features of SAP HANA Live Browser ?

a) All the HANA views in the system can be categorized by  application Components or Packages for logical groupings

b) HANA views can be opened in the HANA Live Explorer to do the following
- Open Metadata to analyse HANA view structure and output fields
- Preview Data output for each HANA view
- Generate SLT files to get a list of tables used in each view
- Where used List to see all HANA views which use any particular View
- Add or remove tags to the views for quick search and  classification purposes
- Open views in Sap Lumira desktop or Analysis Office for for detailed analysis

c) Filter capabilities to look for HANA views containing a particular keyword

d) Favourites View where Users can add any view to their favourites list for quick reference

e) Search Capabilities across all Virtual Data Models to find HANA views containing certain keywords, using a particular view, using specific tables etc.

f) Invalid Views can now be analysed separately. When SAP HANA livecontent is imported in the HANA system and some views do not get activated this feature will help you generate the SLT file list for these inactive views, to get the list of all the tables used in a particular view

4. How to import SAP HANA Live Browser ?

SAP HANA Live Browser is delivered as part of the Hana Live Content Tool s 1.0 package. To download the corresponding content navigate to SAP Service  Marketplace -> Software Downloads -> SAP software Download center ->  Support Packages and Patches -> Browse our Download Catalog -> SAP  In-Memory (SAP HANA) -> SAP HANA Add-ons -> SAP HANA CONTENT TOOLS ->  SAP HANA CONTENT TOOLS 1.0 -> Comprised Software Component Versions ->  SAP HANA ANALYT. FWK EXPL. 100-> Database System -> SAP HANA database  And download and import the same into your HANA system.

5. Which version of SAP HANA Live Browser to import ?

If you are on HANA SPS05 install the HANA Live Explorer content with title "SP02 for SAP HANA ANALYT. FWK EXPL. 100".
If you are on HANA SPS06 (rev 64 and below) install the HANA Live Explor er content with title "Patch for SAP HANA ANALYT. FWK EXPL. 100".
If you are on HANA SPS06 (rev 65 and above) install the HANA Live Explor er content "SP04 for SAP HANA ANALYT. FWK EXPL. 100".

6. What are the Post Installation Steps ?

For HANA Live Explorer SP03 and above:

a) Once the import is done, two roles are created automatically in the system

b) Assign the role sap.hba.explorer.roles::Business to those users who want to work with only a few Views which are added to their favourites

c) Assign the role sap.hba.explorer.roles::Developer to those users who want to use the application with full privileges

d) Launch the SAP HANA Live View Browser from the url as follows http:// <server>:<port>/sap/hba/explorer where server is the HANA server instance and port is 80+hana instance number

7. What are the other privileges required to view SAP HANA Live content ?

To use the SAP HANA Live Browser either of the roles sap.hba.explorer.roles::Business or sap.hba.explorer.roles::Developer are sufficient. Other than these roles, for each individual HANA view, the user needs to have execute Privileges separately

8. How to do basic Troubleshooting ?

For HANA Live Browser SP03 and SP04

a) When accessing the link http://<server>:<port>/sap/hba/explorer If the login screen does not appear, this means the Form Login is Not enabled in HANA XS. Please follow the SAP HANA Developer Guide SP06 Page No 70 Section : authentication -> Form-based authentication

b) When accessing the link http://<server>:<port>/sap/hba/explorer Login screen comes up however after entering appropriate user and password Details, the application does not load then check if either of the roles sap.hba.explorer.roles::Business or sap.hba.explorer.roles::Developer are added to the user

c) If the roles are added and the application still does not load, create a OSS Message for SAP HANA Live Browser using the component CA-EPT-HCO-EXP and Also mention the following - Which is the HANA db release / revision number ? Which is the SAP HANA Live Browser version imported ? Describe the exact problem faced and open a connection for remote access HANA system for testing the issue.
