Reason and Prerequisites

SAP HANA lifecycle manager provides unified user experience for executing SAP HANA SL procedures and minimizes the entry points to SAP HANA SL processes.

SAP HANA lifecycle manager have to replace SUM for SAP HANA on SAP HANA appliance starting from SP06.

I/ Supported Scenarios

SAP HANA lifecycle manager supports:
Configuration processes on SAP HANA appliance SP05 and higher
and
automated update of the SAP HANA appliance SP02 and higher releases on single systems, multiSID system and distributed environment.

Use the tool for the following:

Configuration processes on SAP HANA appliance SP05 and higher:

* SLT Configuration process

* Rename SAP HANA System

* SLD Configuration

* Add additional host

Automated update processes on SAP HANA appliance SP02 and higher:

* Applying Support Package Stacks (SPS) for SAP HANA
covering:
SAP HANA Database Server
SAP HANA client 1.0
SAP HANA studio 1.0
SAP Host Agent 7.20
SAP Application Function Libraries (AFL)
SAP liveCache Applications

* Applying Single Support Packages for SAP HANA

* Performing deployment of additional content for SAP HANA

SAP HANA lifecycle manager user interface is integrated into the SAP HANA studio. It performs the following steps:

Check for newer SAP HANA Support Package Stack on SAP Service Marketplace or newer Single Support Packages for SAP HANA on SAP Service Marketplace
Downloads the selected stack and archives
Starts the local system update procedures with the downloaded stack or/and archives or with provided SAP HANA software archives if there is no connection to SAP Service Marketplace

II/ SAP HANA lifecycle manager installation

Starting from SPS 06, SUM for SAP HANA is replaced by SAP HANA lifecycle manager. We recommend you to update to the new tool. You still can use SUM for SAP HANA but with limited functionality.

SAP HANA lifecycle manager is delivered automatically as part of SAP HANA appliance installation

* SAP HANA appliance SP05 and lower

SAP HANA lifecycle manager can be installed on SAP HANA appliance SP05 and lower

Important: SAP HANA lifecycle manager requires the following minimal versions:

libssh2-1 library
SAP Host Agent version 7.20.153 and higher
SAP Hana studio version 60 and higher
SUM for SAP HANA SP05 patch 7 and higher

[optional] Install libssh2-1 library if it is not installed:
zipper refresh
zypper install libssh2-1

Installation steps:
1. Install SAP HANA studio version 60 or higher.
2. Update SUM to SUM SP5 patch 7 or higher.
3. Using SUM SP05 patch 6 select "Install SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager" in the UI. In case of preferable local system update without connection to SAP Service Marketplace, download SAP HANA lifecycle manager and SAP Host Agent archive (version 7.20.153 or higher as SAR archive) manually and put them in one and the same directory. Provide this directory in the same screen where you selected "Install SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager" radio button. SUM will update SAP Host Agent automatically during SAP HANA lifecycle manager installation.
The SAP Hana Lifecycle Manager is available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> Search for Support Packages and Patches -> SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager.
We recommend that you use the latest tool and support package version. It contains the latest corrections and is updated regularly.
SUM will automatically download and update latest SAP Host Agent archive in case of SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager installation with connection to Service Marketplace.

3. During step 2 SUM should be self-updated to SUM for SAP HANA version SP6 patch 0 or higher.
