Symptom
When you connect to a HANA database through JDBC from Crystal Reports
for Enterprise 4.1, you can only define the instance number. The port
number is generated automatically as 3XX15 where XX is the instance
number.
Environment
Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Crystal Reports for Enterprise
- Create new report
- Connection by Vendor >> SAP >> SAP HANA database 1.0 >> JDBC
- Try defining custom port number
- Logon Error: SAP DBTech JDBC: Cannot connect to
jdbc:sap://[Host]:[CustomPort]:[GeneratedPort] [Invalid host, missing
port number.].
Cause
The port for HANA JDBC connection is automatically generated by CR4E designer as 3XX15 where XX is the instance number.
Resolution
Workaround
- Open IDT (Information Design Tool)
- Connect to the Repository
- Create a new relational connection to the Repository
- Select SAP >> SAP HANA database 1.0 >> JDBC Drivers
- Use the "Multi Server" option and define host:port
- Save the connection to the Repository
- In CR4E in the "Choose a Data Source Connection" tab select the "SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform" >> "Browse Repository" and use the connection created above
