Symptom
- The New SAP HANA Business Layer wizard automatically create a single-source data foundation and business layer but only the local connections are available.
- when publishing a Hana Universe built with the wizard it says no secure connection
- Cannot publish hana business layer
Environment
- SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.1 SP3
- Information Design Tool (IDT)
Reproducing the Issue
- Create relational connection to HANA
- Create a shortcut in the local project
- Right Click the Project and select New Hana Business Layer
- Enter the Business Layer name
- The data Foundation is auto populated
- The shortcut (.CNS) connection is not visible.
- Create a local Connection (.CNX)
- Repeat the above work flow.
- Select the .CNX connection.
- Generate the Data foundation and Business Layer
- Right Click on the Business Layer and publish to the Repository
- Error message occurs
Cause
The New SAP HANA Business Layer wizard to automatically creates a
single-source data foundation and business layer based on selected SAP
HANA information models. However, only local connections are visible.
This means that a universe can only be created or published locally.

Resolution
- In the local project area create a local connection (.CNX)
- Publish the local connection to the repository.
- Create the connection shortcut when prompted.
- Create the universe using the new Hana Business Layer Wizard and Select the local Connection. (.CNX)
- Open the Data Foundation
- Change the connection to the shortcut connection .CNS
- Save
- Right Click on the Business Layer and publish the universe.
