1794465 - Change HANA Edition on HANA SP04 system

Symptom

This guide is relevant for customers, who have a SAP HANA SPS04 single host system and want to change their SAP HANA edition.

Reason and Prerequisites

You have a SAP HANA SPS04 or SAP HANA SPS05 single host system and you need to change your SAP HANA edition.

Solution

SAP HANA edition can be adjusted during new installation of SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager:
1. Rename the existing directory /usr/sap/<SID>/lm_structure on the HANA system.
2. Download SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager. Navigate to http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> Search for Support Packages and Patches -> search for "SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager". Download SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager HLM SP07 and copy into a temporary directory. Extract the copied SAR.
3. Download SAP Host Agent. Navigate to http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> Search for Support Packages and Patches -> search for "SAP Host Agent". Download SAP Host Agent 7.20 version 17x. Copy the downloaded SAR into the same temporary directory but don't extract it.
4. As user root, from the temporary directory run the command: ./hdbinst --host_agent_package=/<temp directory>/<name of SHA archive>
