1701657 - [RUBI403] HANA jdbc/odbc database drivers are not installed with FP03 update

Symptom
  • After update to FP03 from SP02 Patch 6 the SAP HANA drivers are missing.
  • HANA jdbc/odbc database drivers are not installed with FP03 when updating
  • The installation folder for the jdbc drivers is missing all the newdb files
  • Trying to edit the existing connection gives the
    • error: Error parsing connection description.
    • Session ID was not specified Error: Specified RDBMS is invalid: SAP High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) 1.0
    • Cause of Error
    • Interface requested not found: csOCA
    • Cause of Error
    • Session ID was not specified
  • Refreshing an existing report gives the following error:
    • An internal error occurred while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)
  • Trying to create a new Relational connection to HANA database there is no HANA available

Environment
  • HANA
  • BI 4.0 Feature Pack 3 (Patch update)

Reproducing the Issue
  1. Install BI40 SP02 + patch 2.6
  2. Add the HANA jdbc jar file ngdbc.jar under the subfolder jdbc\newdb
  3. Create a connection using HANA in IDT
  4. Create a data foundation
  5. Add a table and save the data foundation
  6. Create a UNX
  7. Save and publish to the repository
  8. Create a webi report based on the HANA universe
  9. Install patch version of FP03
  10. Try to refresh the report and you get the error:
  11. An internal error occurred while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)

Cause
  • The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01628463
  • In BI4 FP03 HANA drivers have been moved from maxdb.sbo into newdb.sbo and therefore are treated as a new feature

Resolution
  1. Modify the full install of BI4 (not the FP03 patch) and add the "SAP HANA" feature under Data Access
    • On Windows use Add / Remove Program   (Programs and Features)
    • On UNIX run "modifyOrRemoveProducts.sh" from the BI4 installation folder
  2. Change the connection to point to the correct drivers and save
  3. Change the data Foundation to accept the new connection and save
  4. Repoint the BLX to the data foundation and save
  5. Export the BLX to the repository
  6. Edit the Existing Webi report
  7. Edit the Query
  8. View the SQL
  9. Change from Automatic to Manual and back to Automatic
  10. Run the query
  11. Save the report
NOTE:
  • After step 5, new reports will not be affected by this behavior
  • Steps 7-12 are only for existing reports
  • "SAP HANA" feature need to be added on BI4 server(s) and client(s)
  • The steps need to be performed only once, no need to do it after future patch/ support pack installations
