SAP HANA Extended Application Services (XS) Advanced Model
SAP HANA extended application services (XS) advanced model in SAP HANA SPS 11 is an additional, new run-time environment for application development: SAP HANA XS advanced model represents an evolution of the application server architecture within SAP HANA by building upon the strengths (and expanding the scope) of XS classic model. SAP recommends that customers/partners begin to evaluate the new capabilities of SAP HANA XS advanced model with this release (SPS 11). Supported Hardware Platforms
SAP HANA is available for:

• Intel-Based Hardware Platforms
• IBM Power Systems

Most SAP HANA features, SAP HANA capabilities and SAP HANA options are supported on both platforms. This includes features, capabilities and options previously not available for SAP HANA, version for IBM Power Systems architecture, such as multiple-host systems and SAP HANA Dynamic Tiering. The following list is a comprehensive list of the SAP HANA features, SAP HANA capabilities and SAP HANA options that are supported on Intel-based hardware platforms only:

Only certain software components, products and add-ons are supported when SAP HANA database is running on the IBM Power Systems architecture.

Important Information When Updating to SAP HANA Platform SPS 11

If you upgrade from a lower SAP HANA SPS, it is recommended to update ALL other components (Studio, Modeler, DB Clients, DBSL, SLT, DS, ...) to at least the minimal version of SAP HANA Platform SPS 11. • The system views M_VIEW_CACHE, M_VIEW_CACHE_RESET and M_VIEW_CACHE_EXCLUSIONS have been renamed to M_RESULT_CACHE, M_RESULT_CACHE_RESET and M_RESULT_CACHE_EXCLUSIONS in SPS 11 and this change was not fully reflected in the documentation

• IBM Netezza Appliance Setup: Prerequisites: Install unixODBC 2.3.0 driver on the SAP HANA machine. Note that only version 2.3.0 is supported.
• Multistore tables
• Multistore tables are not supported in SPS 11, so the topic 2.6.7.8 Multistore Tables in the SAP HANA Administration Guide is incorrect and will be removed from product documentation with the next documentation shipment.
• In the SAP HANA Server Installation and Update Guide, the short description in the custom_cfg parameter topic should read: "Specifies the path to the directory which contains custom configuration (*.ini) files." The Remarks section of the topic should read: "Customized versions of SAP HANA configuration files for configuring the system as a whole and individual tenant databases, hosts, and services can be placed inside the directory. These configuration files will be copied to the following directory before system start and will override the default settings: sapmnt/SID/global/hdb/custom/config".

SAP HANA options provide additional features to the base edition of the SAP HANA platform. To use the SAP HANA options in a production system, you must purchase the appropriate software license from SAP.
Important Disclaimer for Features in SAP HANA Platform, Options and Capabilities
SAP HANA server software and tools can be used for several SAP HANA platform and options scenarios as well as the respective capabilities used in these scenarios. The availability of these is based on the available SAP HANA licenses and the SAP HANA landscape, including the type and version of the back-end systems the SAP HANA administration and development tools are connected to. There are several types of licenses available for SAP HANA. Depending on your SAP HANA installation license type, some of the features and tools that are described in the SAP HANA platform documentation may only be available in the SAP HANA options and capabilities, which may be released independently of an SAP HANA Platform Support Package Stack (SPS). Although various features included in SAP HANA options and capabilities are cited in the SAP HANA platform documentation, each SAP HANA edition governs the options and capabilities available. Based on this, customers do not necessarily have the right to use features included in SAP HANA options and capabilities. For customers to whom these license restrictions apply, the use of features included in SAP HANA options and capabilities in a production system requires purchasing the corresponding software license(s) from SAP. Valid Update Paths from SAP HANA Maintenance Revisions

Please check SAP Note 1948334: "SAP HANA Database Update Paths for Maintenance Revisions" for the possible update paths from SAP HANA Maintenance Revisions to SAP HANA SPS revisions.

Updating from one SAP HANA Maintenance Revision to another SAP HANA Maintenance Revision can be done according to the same procedure as implementing any other SAP HANA Revision update. The customer performs a regular update from lower maintenance revisions to higher SAP HANA Maintenance Revisions.
