2174736 - SAP Lumira cannot connect to SAP HANA

Symptom
SAP Lumira gives "Check the server name and instance ID" when connecting to HANA via Connect to SAP HANA or Download from SAP HANA
Trace log contains "Call to service 'getHanaView' failed"


Environment
  • SAP Lumira
  • SAP HANA SPS09


Reproducing the Issue
  1. Install an SAP HANA SPS09 System
  2. Configure multitenant database containers (MDC) on the SAP HANA System
  3. Try to connect to SAP HANA via Connect to SAP HANA or Download from SAP HANA


Cause
Per section "Supported SAP HANA Revision" of "SAP Lumira® 1.25 Product Availability Matrix (PAM)" at https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001095842012E the multitenant database containers (MDC) introduced with HANA SPS09 are not supported with Lumira.


Resolution

There is no officially supported solution as of SAP Lumira 1.25.

This feature will be added in a future release of SAP Lumira.
To increase the priority of this feature please vote for it on SAP Idea Place

Potential Workaround (unsupported)

  1. Open SAP HANA Studio
  2. Connect to the SAP HANA System
  3. Right-click on the system and choose Properties
  4. Click Hosts used to Connect
  5. Note the second Port number
  6. Start SAP Lumira
  7. Create a New Document via Connect to SAP HANA or Download from SAP HANA
  8. Specify the usual host for your SAP HANA system
  9. Specify the second Port noted in step 5
  10. This should allow you to acquire data from SAP HANA
