Symptom
Error below occurs while testing the connection in IDT using SAML SSO to HANA from BI.
Error:
NOTE: HANA Connection test is successful in CMC.
Environment
- SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.0
- SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.1
- HANA Rev 82.
Reproducing the Issue
- Configure SAML SSO to HANA from BI using the SAP note:1900023.
- Test the HANA connection in CMC->Applications->HANA->Connection->Test. (Please ensure that this test is successful.)
- Login to Information Design Tool. (Using any AD, LDAP. SAP, and enterprise user.)
- Create a new connection and test it with the predefined username/password. (Please ensure that this test is successful.)
- Now, modify the connection and use SSO.
- Click on test, an error above will occur.
Cause
There could be multiple reasons for this error. Some of them are listed below:

This issue is also reproducible by the hardcoded username/password if the username/password is not correct or not configured on the HANA server.

SAML SSO to HANA from BI is not configured properly.

Wrong username/password is being used in the connection.
-
Wrong username/password is being passed by the BO server to HANA server using SSO.

SAML identity is not added on the HANA user.
Resolution
- In this case, the SAML identity was not added on the HANA user.
- Add the SAML identity to the HANA user.
