1912833 - Labor Demand Planning: Import of required SAP HANA objects

Symptom
You want to use the Labor Demand Planning functions of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) in conjunction with SAP HANA. Your EWM system is installed on a system that does not have an SAP HANA database. You have a separate SAP HANA system that uses an SAP HANA database. To use the SAP HANA objects from Labor Demand Planning, you connect your EWM system to your SAP HANA system using a secondary database connection. The SAP HANA objects from Labor Demand Planning do not yet exist in the SAP HANA system. You cannot perform Labour Demand Planning.

Other Terms
Labor Demand Planning, delivery unit, import, HCO_EWM_SCMEWM_LM,
LDP, SAP HANA

Reason and Prerequisites
Reason::
  • The EWM system on which you want to use Labour Demand Planning is not installed on an SAP HANA database (SAP HANA is not the primary database for the EWM system).

Solution
Refer in the first instance to the general information about installing EWM Labour Demand Planning contained in SAP Note 1894045.

The required SAP HANA objects are included in the SAP HANA delivery unit HCO_EWM_SCMEWM_LM. To import this delivery unit into your SAP HANA system, you must fulfill the following prerequisites:
  • An SAP HANA studio is installed and access has been provided to your SAP HANA system.
  • The user who uploads the delivery unit must have sufficient authorizations in the SAP HANA system:
  • Administrator authorization for the SAP HANA system
  • Authorization REPO.IMPORT

Note that importing the delivery unit will overwrite all existing objects for the delivery unit HCO_EWM_SCMEWM_LM.

To import the delivery unit, proceed as follows:
  • Download the archive file (with file extension "tgz") attached to this SAP Note to a local directory.
  • Launch the SAP HANA studio. Change to modeler view.
  • Perform an import from the content area. To select the import source, open the "SAP HANA Content" folder in the tree structure. Select the "Delivery Unit" entry and choose "Next".
  • On the following screen for selecting the import file, select the "Client" option. Then enter the path to the tgz archive file saved in your local directory. Choose "Next" to start the import.
  • Once the import has completed successfully, navigate to the SAP HANA context that contains the SAP HANA objects for Labour Demand Planning (choose "sap -> ewm -> scmewm -> lm"). Check that all SAP HANA objects in the content package are active. If inactive objects are present, start the object activation in SAP HANA studio.

For more information about exporting and importing delivery units, refer to the SAP HANA Developer Guide, which is available on the SAP Help Portal (help.sap.com):
  • Choose "SAP In-Memory Computing -> SAP HANA".

If you use the SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Manager, follow the instructions in the relevant chapter of the SAP HANA Development Guide:
  • HANA Support Package Stack 06: Chapter 12.4.7

If you want to use SAP HANA studio to export and import SAP HANA models, refer to the procedure set out in SAP Note 1710712.
