Reason and Prerequisites
You have a SAP HANA server running SLES 11 SP1 or SLES 11 SP2 and want to upgrade the Linux kernel of your operating system.
Solution
Updates of the Linux kernel inside a major kernel release updating
only a minor kernel version, i.e. an update from 2.6.36 to 2.6.59, can
be done by you or your hardware partner.
Updates of a major kernel version or an update to a new service pack of your SLES operating system have to be validated by the hardware partner and SAP since this is a bigger change in the operating system and may affect the optimal interaction of the SAP HANA IMDB and the operating system.
Please contact your hardware partner if this validation has already been done. If you need information about the kernel update procedure please also contact your hardware partner.
