Used to perform automated update of the SAP HANA appliance 1.0 SPS02 and higher releases.


Solution
This note applies to SUM for SAP HANA 1.0 SPS02 and higher releases.

SUM for SAP HANA SP4 patch 4: fix stack detection in case of downloaded stack from SAP Service Marketplace
Description of the issue:
The downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace SP4 stack is not detected as a valid stack for an update because it contains "OSINDEP" constant for os-set os.
The error is:
WARN 2012-07-19 08:54:54 com.sap.lm.hana.detect.InboxScanner
File /usr/sap/trans/67837800103300003782/stack.xml is not a valid stack file for the system.

Description of an additional issue :
The shared directory /usr/sap/trans has no sufficient permissions.
Permissions are rwxrwxr-x instead of rwxrwxrwx
The error in UI is:
com.sap.lm.hana.detect.DetectionException: Landscape description
/usr/sap/H63/lm_structure/landscapeDescription.xml is not valid.
The error in lmtp.log is:
Caused by: com.sap.lm.hana.detect.DetectionException: No write access to shared directory /usr/sap/trans on host wdflbmd13363.wdf.sap.corp.
at com.sap.lm.hana.detect.SystemDetector.checkLandscapeDescription(Sys
temDetector.java:90)


SUM for SAP HANA SP4 patch 3: fix SAP jvm version included in SUM.
Description of the issue:
The download from SMP fails via SUM for SAP HANA.
The error is:
com.sap.sdt.util.download.ex.DwnldClientException: Get HTTP response code 400 for https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~swdc/012002523100008726872012D/SUMHANA04_0-20008246.SAR?_ACTION=DL_DIRECT that indicates a client error.


SUM for SAP HANA SP4 patch 2: fix SMP download
Description of the issue:
The download of HDB Server version 28 is hanging forever at 99%.
The error is:
Download of the SERVER version 28 started. It reached 99% and at first it looked that it hanged but after some minutes the progress went back to 0% and started again to download it from scratch (there is still no resume of the download). This happened several times and none of the attempts was successful.

Description of the issue:
The download from SMP fails via SUM for SAP HANA if a network proxy authentication is required.
The error is:
"java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method
sun.net.www.protocol.http.AuthenticationInfo.setHeaders
(sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection, sun.net.www.HeaderParser,
java.lang.String) of an object loaded from local

The tool needs initial installation. Afterwards the tool automatically self updates to the latest available version, SP and patch level.

  • We recommend that you use the latest tool and support package version. It contains the latest corrections and is updated regularly.


                      *** SUM for SAP HANA SPS03 information ***


SUM for SAP HANA SP3 patch 2:
Patch text: The fix does not provide default system number to SMP
and the fix does not initialize if a self-update is needed.

Additional information about fixed problems:

During self-update to SMP with S-User there was an exception:
javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException:
BOSF_SWDC_SOLMAN_SYS_USER2URL:system_does_not_exist.

If there are errors during the self-update and during the following "Retry" action (or error in general), first a detection of the system is done, before the self-update. For example : The host agent configurations were deployed before self-update which was not correct.

Additional information how to apply the new patch:
Please check the version of your SUM and if it is less than SP3 patch2 then follow the steps below. Version is available in /usr/sap/<SID>/SUM/sapmanifest.mf

SUM for SAP HANA SP3 patch 2 is available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Support Packages and Patches -> A-Z Index -> Letter "S" -> SL TOOLSET -> SL TOOLSET 1.0 -> Entry by Component -> SUM for SAP HANA

Follow the steps below only if you have SUM SP3:

1. Download SUM for SAP HANA SP3 patch 2.

2. Log on to the file system and go to directory /usr/sap/<SID>/SUM.

3. Backup sub-directory "config" and file
/usr/sap/<SID>/SUM/jvm/jre/lib/security/cacerts.

4. Extract downloaded SAR on /usr/sap/<SID>/SUM.

5. Replace sub-directory "config" and file "cacerts" with backup ones.

SUM for SAP HANA currently does not support a local SAP Solution Manager within a customer landscape; SAP HANA archives are automatically downloaded from the SAP Service Marketplace.

SUM for SAP HANA user interface is integrated into the SAP HANA STUDIO. It performs the following steps:
  • Checks for the newest available version of SAP HANA Support Package Stack on SAP Service Marketplace
  • Downloads the selected stack
  • Starts the local system update procedures providing SAP HANA software archives
