You are installing SAP HANA rules framework 1.000.1 add-on on top of SAP HANA platform SPS08.

Solution

The SAP HANA rules framework provides a set of tools enabling business users and application developers to build decision logic based on the organization's data. This rule engine applies rules and actions as defined by end users without affecting how the application runs.
Using the SAP HANA rules framework, you can plan your decision support application development by:

• Identifying the business logic to be represented by rules in your application and implement the out calls for rule execution
• Identifying data sources for your rule elements, defining alternative actions and phrasing them all using an end user vocabulary, which will later be used as the foundation for all user-entered logic
• Designing the application user interfaces that, in designated areas, should allow the insertion of business logic

SAP HANA rules framework supports the above steps by delivering:

• Developer tools for defining rule consumption interfaces
• Vocabulary authoring tools
• Rule authoring tools such as the rule expression language and decision table
• UI controls to be embedded into the application UI flow
• Monitoring and simulation tools

Important Installation Information:
The SAP HANA rules framework is a standard SAP HANA content delivery unit based on SAP HANA Platform Edition SP08.

1.       Consumption of Decision Calibration

• Enable the business user to invoke determination engine for rule calibration, so that I could fine-tune business rules in order to improve my rule sets.
• Enable the business user to fix firmly the constant values that were decided during rule calibration, so that the simulated rule(s) will be adjusted to his business processes and KPIs

2.       Read-Only Rule Service

• Enable the application developer to set rule service as read-only, so that the runtime artifacts will be generated as read-only.

3.     Generic Consumption for Rule Services – Dispatcher

• Enable the application developer to consume different rule services via one entry point, so he could assume stable interface and new code will not have to be generated.

4.       Multiple Embedded Services for Single Consumptio

• Enable the business user I want to consume determination engine in order to evaluate one specific rule in different contexts.
• Enable the application developer to define multiple sets of execution contexts in rule instance, so that the rule will be consumable in different contexts and that the creation of consumable single rule could be done easily in one step.

5.       Limit Batch Size for Batch Detection

• Enable the business user to evaluate set of rules only on limited amount of data records, so that processing time will be shorter. Usually to be used for simulation, calibration and test environment.
• Enable the application developer/implementor to define whether rule service shall allow to limit the batch size of the evaluated data on consumption or not, in order not to decrease code efficiency in vain.

6.       Create Rule Instance without Rule Template

• Enable the application developer to enable the business users to create simple rule instances without the need to explicitly define a rule template, so that the development process will be quicker, easier, and less cumbersome.

7.       Update Vocabulary and Output for Rule

• Enable update of vocabulary of rule instance.
• Enable update of output of rule instance.
• Validate rule body correctness on create or update.
