Solution

The SAP HANA Client (ODBC, JDBC, SQLDBC) is revision or SPS level agnostic. This means HANA client interfaces are backwards compatible and forward compatible as well: older clients work with newer engines and vice versa. However, to benefit from latest product improvements, newly developed features or latest tracing functionality within the SAP HANA Client we strongly recommend to also upgrade the SAP HANA Client accordingly.
